Dr Zaina Cheema is Fellow of the RACGP and has practiced broadly.
A significant component of her clinical practice is currently dedicated
to rural health. She is a GP VMO in Emergency and spends half her time working in remote western NSW.
Her niche primary care interests include anxiety management, chronic pain mitigation, acne and skin health, children’s health, insomnia, and men’s mental health. She participates in health promotion as a member of the GP reference group for Andrology Australia (Healthy Male).
She is a prescriber of medicinal cannabis and is passionate about providing access to this treatment for those living with chronic pain and anxiety where she has seen it benefit many of her patients.
She is interested in the mind-body connection; the emerging field of psychoneuroimmunology, and its application to managing stress related conditions.
She has a passion for learning and is currently completing her MSc in Infectious Diseases (Dist.) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys days by the beach with her son and their mischievous puppy, Milo.
