Naomi Strout

Registered Nurse, Midwife

Naomi is a dual trained Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, completing her degrees at CSU Wagga in 2010 and 2016 respectively. In 2020, she completed her Masters of Advanced Nursing at UTS (whilst on maternity leave!). She has extensive experience working with families and children from pregnancy through to adolescence.

Naomi has worked across various nursing and midwifery areas, including paediatric oncology/haematology, neonatal intensive care (NICU), adolescent health, paediatric clinical research, antenatal clinics and the postnatal ward. In addition to her work at Double Bay Doctors, Naomi is also the Project Manager and one of the lead researchers for The MothersBabies Study at UNSW Microbiome Research Centre. The MothersBabies Study is a world first pre-conception microbiome study investigating how a person’s pre-pregnancy microbiome can impact on their pregnancy outcomes and the health of their child in the first 2 years of life.

Naomi is deeply passionate about child and family health – healthy parents are the key step in making healthy babies and children for the future. Family centred care is a core approach to her work, as it empowers them to make informed and considered decisions about their health and wellbeing.

Outside of work, Naomi has a keen love for sports and the outdoors. She plays bike polo, AFL and road cycling and on long weekends you’ll find her and her family at many of the amazing bushland camping spots a few hours from Sydney.
