A skin check is a comprehensive assessment and examination of an asymptomatic person (someone without symptoms) for any evidence of skin cancer.

For patients seeking removal of benign moles or other lesions for cosmetic reasons, particular care is required when lesions are located on cosmetically significant sites such as the face, or on areas prone to hypertrophic scarring such as the shoulders, chest, and breasts. Removal in these areas requires a delicate approach to achieve the best cosmetic outcome.

Full Skin Check
 

This 30-minute appointment is recommended if you are at higher risk of skin cancer or have more than three spots of concern. It involves a detailed and thorough examination and is best suited for patients who:

• Have a personal or family history of skin cancer

• Are at higher risk due to factors such as fair skin or extensive sun exposure

• Have multiple concerning lesions they would like reviewed

• Require careful assessment of moles or lesions on sensitive areas such as the face, chest, shoulders or neck

Spot Skin Check [1-3 lesions]

This shorter appointment is suitable if you have only 1-3 spots of concern you would like assessed. If you have more than three lesions or are at higher risk of skin cancer, please book a Full Skin Check instead.
