Flu Vaccines

The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone over the age of 6 months. Getting vaccinated against the flu every year helps protect you and your community.

 

Flu Vaccine Appointment Types

​

We have THREE appointment types available for flu vaccines this year:

 

(1) “Free Fluvax Clinic - Govt Funded Only" - Government flu vaccines administered in a dedicated flu vaccine clinic at set times (No out of pocket fee) - Eligibility criteria below

 

(2) "Fluvax Anytime - Govt Funded Only" - Government flu vaccines administered at a time that suits you ($10.00 fee applies) - Eligibility criteria below

 

(3) "Fluvax Anytime - Private [5yrs to 64yrs]" - Private flu vaccines administered at a time that suits you ($25.00 fee applies)

 

Or, if you are coming to see your doctor soon, you can also receive your flu vaccine during your GP appointment. Standard gap fees apply + vaccine cost (if not eligible for a govt funded flu vaccine).​

Who is eligible for a Government Funded Flu Vaccine?

​

+ Children 6 months to <5 years

+ Pregnant women

+ Patients 65 years and over

+ Immunocompromised patients and patients suffering from Chronic Illness (see more information below)

+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
 

Immunocompromised patients and patients suffering from Chronic Illness

​

People aged 6 months & over with medical conditions putting them at increased risk of severe influenza & complications, including:

+ Chronic respiratory conditions

+ Chronic neurological conditions

+ Immunocompromising conditions

+ Diabetes and other metabolic disorders

+ Renal disease

+ Haematological disorders

+ Children aged 6 months to 10 years on long term aspirin therapy.

+ Cardiac disease

If you don't fall into one of the categories above, please book a private flu vaccine appointment.

Flu Vaccines for children <10 years

​

​Please note that children under 10 years who are receiving their first ever flu vaccine require 2 doses of the vaccine, 4 to 8 weeks apart.

If you are attending with family members, to ensure your appointment is on time, please book one appointment per family member and complete the online consent form for each family member during the booking process. 

 

Kindly avoid bringing friends or family with you to your flu vaccine appointment to allow room for other patients in the waiting room.
