Mental Health Care Plans
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a referral provided by a GP to support patients to access mental health support. With a MHCP, patients can access up to 20 Medicare-subsidised psychology sessions per calendar year.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Your GP can determine if you are eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan.
Eligible patients can receive an MHCP once every 12 months, which entitles them to up to 20 Medicare-subsidised psychology sessions.
After the first 6 sessions, the patient must book an appointment with their GP for review, before any additional sessions can be accessed. Due to COVID-19, Medicare has enabled patients to access an additional 10 sessions. A GP review is required after the 10th psychology appointment.
