GP ADHD
Continuation Care

Double Bay Doctors offers an ADHD continuation care service for patients aged 6 and older who have already received a confirmed diagnosis from a psychiatrist or paediatrician and have been stabilised on medication.

This service provides ongoing prescription management, health monitoring, and coordination of care in collaboration with your treating specialist - and your regular GP where applicable.

 
What is this service for
 

• Patients aged 6 years and over

• Patients with a confirmed ADHD diagnosis made by a psychiatrist or paediatrician

• Patients who have completed medication initiation and dose stabilisation with their specialist

• Patients requiring ongoing prescriptions

 

What this service does not include

• Initial ADHD assessments or diagnostic assessments

• Medication initiation

• Management of unstable or complex mental health conditions (e.g. severe depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, or complex anxiety)

For ADHD diagnostic assessments, please speak with your GP to arrange appropriate referrals.

Before your appointment

​

To help us prepare for your visit, please ensure the following:

• A current specialist letter confirming your diagnosis and medication recommendations is required - please email this to reception before you attend for your appointment

• Bring your current medication list to your appointment

• Bring your recent blood test results (within the last 12 months) with you or forward them to the practice

• An ECG may be performed at your appointment if clinically indicated

Important information about your appointment

​

ADHD continuation prescribing is provided at the discretion of the treating doctor. The practice may request further specialist review where clinically indicated, or decline prescribing if safety concerns arise.

​

This service does not replace specialist care. Patients with complex or unstable mental health conditions will be referred back to their specialist for ongoing management.
